About the event
Course Overview:
This one-day CME Symposium is intended for nephrologists, general internists, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nephrology nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, renal, and clinical dietitians. This meeting is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the entire nephrology healthcare team by encouraging collaborative, innovative and patient-focused care. This Symposium will feature nationally recognized faculty who will address the long-term impact of symptoms on kidney patients, new treatment therapies for kidney disease, and the new allocation system for transplantation. We will also speak to a new race free approach to calculate eGFR.

Objectives:
- Disseminate new information related to the epidemiology, clinical presentation, pathophysiology, and treatment of CKDaP
- Recognize symptoms impacting kidney patients and exploring approaches to effectively engage them
- Examine factors that affect short and long-term success of a kidney transplant and explore how precision medicine can individualize care to kidney patients
- Articulate updated information on the novel agents approved for the treatment of glomerular diseases
- Acquire current information on treatments and explore potential new therapies for diabetic kidney disease
- Recall the tenets of OPTN organ allocation as outlined in the Final Rule and OPTN Policy
- Outline how the history of racism in the US affected clinical algorithms (eGFR) and contributed to the disparities in kidney disease outcomes
- Examine challenges and understand the planning and steps required for vascular access placement in medically complex individuals
